Italian scientists invented the world’s first vaccine to neutralize coronavirus.
According to The Daily Mail, Takis Biotech specialists vaccinated the mice and took antibodies from them – blood plasma proteins produced as a response to the virus. Thus, these antibodies can destroy the virus in human cells under lab conditions: they successfully prevented the binding of the SARS-CoV-2 virus to human cells and subsequent infection.
Vaccine developers plan to begin testing it in humans.
‘As far as we know we are the first in the world so far to have demonstrated a neutralization of the coronavirus by a vaccine.’
Currently, the tested vaccine is considered the most promising of all created in Italy.
However, the UK health secretary Matt Hancock noted there is no guarantee that the antidote for the new coronavirus will ever be found. There are no reasons for optimism, in his opinion, either.
