Vaccination against infectious diseases not only protects against infection, but can also halt the aging process, Russian health ministry chief freelance geriatrician Olga Tkacheva noted.
“Vaccination is not just the prevention of some infectious diseases, it is also an effect on the rate of aging. Through vaccination, we can reduce systemic inflammation syndrome and slow down the aging process,” she said.
According to her, all infectious diseases leave their mark on human health, RIA Novosti reported.
One of the mechanisms of aging is the so-called “smoldering systemic inflammation”. The higher the level of this inflammation, the faster aging occurs.
In this sense, being protected from infectious diseases can reduce the risk of such inflammatory processes in the body, which in turn slows down aging.
