Regular fasting is associated with a lower risk of heart failure and a longer life expectancy, two groups of US scientists said.
According to a medical press release on MedicalXpress, the first study involved about 2,000 people who underwent cardiac catheterization and were observed for 4.4 years, 389 practiced regular fasting for five years. Taking other factors into account, the researchers found that starvation mortality was 45% lower.
In a second study, specialists analyzed data on the same patients to check how fasting affects cardiac activity. It turned out that starvation of heart attacks occurs 71% less often.
