To stay energized throughout the day, drink a glass of water before your morning coffee. In addition, avoid drinking coffee immediately after waking up and refrain from adding milk or sugar, explained endocrinologist Francisco Rosero in an interview with 20minutos.
“During sleep, the body goes without water for several hours, which is why many people wake up dehydrated,” explained Rosero.
According to the specialist, drinking water in the morning plays an important role in supporting both digestion and brain function. It stimulates intestinal activity, which in turn can help reduce discomforts such as heartburn, bloating, and other gastrointestinal issues that often occur after breakfast.
Moreover, the doctor explained that coffee should not be consumed immediately after waking up, as it can worsen dehydration by stimulating urination and increasing fluid loss.
“It is important to remember that drinking coffee in the morning can actually increase fatigue if you don’t rehydrate first,” the endocrinologist warned.
Rosero also recommended drinking coffee without milk or sugar, as these additives can interfere with caffeine absorption and diminish its energizing effect.
